The Bursch, family home of Milanese businesswoman Barbara Varese, is a country house and gourmet restaurant located a short distance from Biella.
The original 17th century historical residence has been transformed into a house museum thanks to the careful conservative restoration of a large complex of interconnected stone buildings surrounded by a private park overlooking the Cervo stream.
Bursch means "house" in the ancient Walser dialect of the Germanic people who once inhabited Valsesia.
Crossing the threshold, you will be immersed in an atmosphere of strong personality, immersing yourself in rooms filled with collections of objects and antique furniture.
The restaurant La Bursch does not have a classical dining room: you will eat at one of the many tables and small tables, many of them covered with white grandmother's tablecloths, that you will find in the house, in a kind of "diffuse restaurant" that we have never seen before.
The old kitchen, with its white tiles, lit fireplace and copper utensils, is one of the most striking places to sit.
At La Bursch restaurant, we had a truly unusual and sophisticated dining experience in an atmospheric setting of refined elegance.
The delightful Erika Gotta is a chef as young and shy in appearance as she is vivacious and motivated in the kitchen.
Her dishes burst with personality and character and are a concentration of technique and ideas!
The cuisine is very local, as it should be in a place like this, but enriched with a well-dosed creativity that brings modernity without upheaval.
The wines by the glass, selected by Vittorio Del Rosso to go with Erika's dishes, will allow you to drink well.
We've awarded the Convivium Excellence Award to La Bursch Restaurant and its chef Erika Gotta for the quality of their cuisine and hospitality.
