Il Gallo della Checca - Ranzo (IM)

Il Gallo della Checca, a truffle restaurant with its own Tartufaia as well as an osteria and wine shop since 1986, is located in Ranzo, a small inland Ligurian village on the border with Piedmont. One does not arrive here by accident, but because of the gastronomic value of the address, which is certainly worth a special detour. As you cross the threshold of the entrance, you will find yourself immersed in a quaint rustic-elegant style setting, full of curious elements, from the piano to the tiled stove, from the collection of ceramic roosters to vintage and modern racing bicycles, a great passion of Chef and Patron Ugo Vairo. The main hall is decorated like a wedding favor, with oriental carpets and many well-displayed bottles. Ugo Vairo and Renata Siboni run a place that easily wins over its customers. Bino - Savona

Bino Restaurant enjoys a privileged location inside the Museum of Ceramics in Savona, in a very central area, right in front of the Bishop's Curia buildings. Crossing the threshold, the rooms are very bright and modern, the result of a tastefully done renovation.
Thanks to its very special location, the venue lends itself to hosting artistic and cultural exhibitions, as well as events of interest and prestige in which cuisine and food culture are the protagonists.
The restored work by Agenore Fabbri, "The Birth of Ceramics," stands out in the small room at the back, while numerous contemporary works have been placed on the shelves in the entrance area. The dining area is divided into a long, rectangular-shaped room, which is followed by a smaller, more intimate room. The look is modern and informal, with the predominance of light colors and blazing lights.
With the Bino Restaurant, Chef Giuseppe Ricchebuono has also confirmed his entrepreneurial foresight, enhancing the Savona Ceramics Museum through a prestigious business, which in turn gains appeal from the location as well as from the excellent contemporary cuisine. Superior raw materials form the basis of a gastronomic proposal closely linked to Ligurian tradition.
Since our first visit, which we made in 2022, the Resident Chef and wait staff have changed, but not the formula of modern and absolutely no-waste cuisine, with the offer of suggestions that make each dish interesting. The Cantina deserves applause for the quality of the selection and the many goodies it offers.
