Ristorante Cibus - Ceglie Messapica (BR)

Image
The Cibus restaurant, located in an evocative former 15th century Dominican convent in the heart of the historic center of Ceglie Messapica, is a true temple of regional gastronomy, a member of the "Premiate Trattorie Italiane" circuit, an association that brings together the custodians of tradition and genuine Italian hospitality. Let's leave it to the Patron Lillino Silibello himself to clarify the meaning of the epigraph "Dissident Cuisine": "The dissidence of a cuisine begins from the bottom: from the earth, from the hands, from the effort. The disagreement with industrial logic is manifested in the use of ancient varieties of raw materials and in the search for purely traditional transformation processes, the result of meetings between farmers and artisans. We remain in this position to allow you to taste forgotten flavours. This is for us, the cuisine dissident". At the Cibus restaurant we lived a rich and stimulating gastronomi...

Locanda San Michele - Villa (AT)

Image
Locanda San Michele is located in a beautiful panoramic position on the hills of Asti near Isola d'Asti, easily reachable from the nearby motorways. The images of the exteriors show the charm of the place more than many words... The restaurant is divided into a modern and informal room with windows overlooking the terrace and a second delightful underground room with a beautiful atmosphere. Locanda San Michele impressed us very favorably with the quality of its cuisine and the excellence of the raw materials used. Chef "Joy", who despite his name is a true Asti native, has a happy hand both in proposing tradition cooked to perfection and in combining the ingredients of the most creative dishes, which prove to be particularly balanced, tasty but never "aggressive", a sign of technical mastery, measurement and taste. For all these reasons we highlight the restaurant as a destination for excellent cuisine, and not just local cuisine. ...

Real Castello di Verduno - Verduno (CN)

Image
The Real Castello di Verduno, Restaurant and Hotel, enjoys a splendid position that allows the view to range from the Langhe and Roero to the Alps. We are in a magnificent 16th century castle, completely restored in subsequent phases. Once through the large solid wood door, you will enter a vast room with high frescoed ceilings, used as a lounge and reception, which overlooks the well-kept garden in front. The restaurant is divided into two eighteenth-century rooms of great character, characterized by antique terracotta floors, fireplaces and mirrors, very high ceilings and light salmon and burgundy colored walls. At the Real Castello di Verduno you can breathe an atmosphere of times gone by, that of a true noble residence with that discreet and somewhat shy welcome typical of old Piedmont. Alessandra Buglioni from Monale cooks traditional dishes with loving care, revisited with particular attention to the seasonality of the garden and the quality of the raw materi...

Already at the entrance you are struck by the well-kept rooms, with terracotta floors and vaulted ceilings with exposed bricks. The single rectangular dining room offers a warm atmosphere of times gone by. At the Il Martinet restaurant we tasted tasty traditional cuisine made with great care and respect for the raw material, based on quality ingredients with a careful eye on seasonality. Campamac Osteria Gourmet - Barbaresco (CN)

Image
Campamac, Osteria Gourmet, is the modern gastronomic osteria opened in Barbaresco by Maurilio Garola, chef of La Ciau del Tornavento, in partnership with Paolo Dalla Mora, a manager from Friuli with experience in large multinationals. Its name is an expression in Piedmontese dialect, used as an encouragement, meaning "give it to us." As soon as you enter, you'll realize how much the definition of Osteria fits a bit tightly to a place that stands out for a very classy interior design signed by Architect Fabio Ferrillo. The entrance with inlaid black and white marble floors houses a small cocktail bar that is also a store selling the excellent local products (all strictly zero kilometer) that are served at the table. To the side and front are the two spectacular open kitchens, one of which has a grill and spit. The atmosphere of the dining room is elegant, with parquet floors, a central marble "carpet" and a jungle of plants. Every single detai...

Osteria Santa Maria - Abbiategrasso (MI)

Image
Osteria Santa Maria, run by a young couple, is based in Abbiategrasso in a late 19th-century building in the historic center. Stepping through the entrance, you will be greeted by a warm and characterful environment, with a bar area, reception desk, and a small open kitchen window. The two romantic small rooms you will sit in have exposed beams and bricks. Very scenic is the lighting entrusted to suspended circular elements. Osteria Santa Maria stands out and we like it because of the ambience, the line of cuisine and the young management, which knows how to transmit passion and enthusiasm. Mirco Polli is a chef with a beautiful hand who knows how to treat the historical recipes of the restaurant at their best with some wise contemporary touches. His cuisine is enriched with each of our visits by some new preparation, sometimes inspired by recipes from other regions, and always linked to the seasonality of the products, selected and prepared with so much care and ref...

Bino - Savona

Image
Bino Restaurant enjoys a privileged location inside the Museum of Ceramics in Savona, in a very central area, right in front of the Bishop's Curia buildings. Crossing the threshold, the rooms are very bright and modern, the result of a tastefully done renovation. Thanks to its very special location, the venue lends itself to hosting artistic and cultural exhibitions, as well as events of interest and prestige in which cuisine and food culture are the protagonists. The restored work by Agenore Fabbri, "The Birth of Ceramics," stands out in the small room at the back, while numerous contemporary works have been placed on the shelves in the entrance area. The dining area is divided into a long, rectangular-shaped room, which is followed by a smaller, more intimate room. The look is modern and informal, with the predominance of light colors and blazing lights. With the Bino Restaurant, Chef Giuseppe Ricchebuono has also confirmed his entrepreneurial foresig...

Il Lupo e la Greppia - Plan (TO)

Image
Il Lupo e la Greppia is located in the small hamlet of Plan di Pragelato, just a few minutes' drive from the renowned Sestriere ski resort, which is easily accessible from Turin. The environment is mountainous, with much attention paid to every little detail. The one dining room stands out for its exposed stonework and solid wood tables all different from each other. There is no shortage of an ever-burning, crackling fireplace. Two young chefs Luca Giraudo and Luca Castellano operate in the kitchen. At Il Lupo e la Greppia we tasted curated local cuisine marked by the utmost freshness and quality of ingredients. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, the service thoughtful. You will drink well thanks to a cleverly set up wine list. Do you want to post your comment? Make yourself the Critic on the Blog! Post your comment:

La Locanda dell'Angelo - Millesimo (SV)

Image
La Locanda dell'Angelo Restaurant is located in Millesimo, in the historic center of the charming village of medieval origins, situated on the ancient salt road that connected Liguria to Piedmont, surrounded by woods and lapped by the Bormida River, which flows just a few steps from the Locanda. The location is in a strategic position, a short distance from the Turin-Savona highway exit. The interiors reveal a clever mix of ancient and modern. The restaurant room, created from the old cellars, is welcoming and full of character, with parquet floors, vaulted ceilings and portions of the walls with exposed bricks. The Locanda dell'Angelo is an excellent gastronomic stop, with a modern cuisine that includes both the unavoidable dishes of tradition and a rich and delicious selection of fresh fish, strictly "caught". Creativity is expressed in a few well-calibrated touches that add value to each dish, and there is no shortage of French-inspired touche...

Autentico - Cherasco (CN)

Image
Autentico is located in Cherasco, Piedmont's snail capital, in the historic cellars of Palazzo Ormea, right in the center of town. The unique room, renovated with great taste, has rectangular development and an open kitchen. Tables are set with C.F.B. tablecloths, shiny Hepp Exlusiv 18/10 steel cutlery, beautiful Brazilian Tramontina meat knives with wooden handles, Churchill plates and Caraiba stemware. A Poldina Zafferano led lamp at each table completes the curated mise en place. Having long known maìtre George Marica, a guarantee, and Chef Stefano Rudino, whom we have already met in previous reports, we visited Autentico Cherasco with high expectations, which were punctually fulfilled. We had the idea of finding good local cuisine revisited in a modern key, and so it was, because here the authentic tradition, the “grandmother's” one to be clear, is reproposed (and even surpassed) with ideas, balance, taste and technique. Stefano Rudino's cooking is ...

Ristorante Tre Re - Castellamonte (TO)

Image
Ristorante Albergo Tre Re, run with passion and expertise by Roberto Marchello and his wife Federica, is located in the town of Castellamonte, the majolica capital, between Ivrea and Rivarolo Canavese, half an hour's drive from Turin. Legend has it that the name of the inn goes back to the time of Emperor Frederick I, known as Barbarossa, who, returning from Milan with the relics of the Three Kings, stopped at the inn, which has since been named in memory of the event. The main hall is classic and elegant, with parquet floors and wainscoting with large mirrors. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and pleasant. The tables, covered with rich linen, are set with light-colored chairs and decorated with centerpieces, some depicting the Three Kings, others the Queen. The Tre Re restaurant, a haute cuisine destination since the 1960s, has always been a true institution of Piedmontese cuisine and is now a quality, refined and satisfying gastronomic stop. Here you will fin...

Camùri - Ragusa Ibla

Image
Camùri #cucinappassionata is located in the heart of Ragusa Ibla, just a few steps from the beautiful Hyblaean Garden. As its name says in Sicilian dialect, it is a place where people cook "with love". The interior of the restaurant is the result of a careful restoration in a modern key of the ancient building. The outdoor terrace overlooks the very central Corso XXV Aprile, the pedestrian heart of Ibla. At the Camùri restaurant we experienced and got to know an authentic and refined Sicilian cuisine, made with passion and love, with the search and use of ingredients of recognized authenticity, often rare and niche. What a miracle to taste the most representative specialties of this land, prepared in such a resounding way that we repeatedly exclaimed "that so good we had not yet tasted! A cuisine that is also very technical and modern, where necessary, to give that lightness that is essential for modern palates. The chef Federico Rizzo and his partner a...

D'La Picocarda - Crocera di Barge (CN)

Image
The D'La Picocarda restaurant, located in a beautifully restored farmhouse with character, takes its name from the dialectal pendulum, the symbol of the restaurant, which is frescoed on the exterior walls. The interior is warm and atmospheric, like a real "Relais de Campagne". You are greeted in a well-kept reception area with terracotta floors and carpets, solid wood furniture and vaulted ceilings with exposed brick. A first dining room with fireplace is almost an antechamber to the magnificent veranda room. Note the antique terracotta floors, the frescoed half columns and the entire side wall in mountain boiserie. The bright main room with veranda, overlooking the outdoor garden and the breathtaking panorama of the Alps on the horizon, plays with the warm tones of the wood. There is also a third dining room with antique terracotta floors, painted wooden doors, frescoed half-columns and red ceramic hanging chandeliers that descend on the tables, and of course there is ...
