Ristorante Tre Re - Castellamonte (TO)

Image
Ristorante Albergo Tre Re, run with passion and expertise by Roberto Marchello and his wife Federica, is located in the town of Castellamonte, the majolica capital, between Ivrea and Rivarolo Canavese, half an hour's drive from Turin. Legend has it that the name of the inn goes back to the time of Emperor Frederick I, known as Barbarossa, who, returning from Milan with the relics of the Three Kings, stopped at the inn, which has since been named in memory of the event. The main hall is classic and elegant, with parquet floors and wainscoting with large mirrors. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and pleasant. The tables, covered with rich linen, are set with light-colored chairs and decorated with centerpieces, some depicting the Three Kings, others the Queen. The Tre Re restaurant, a haute cuisine destination since the 1960s, has always been a true institution of Piedmontese cuisine and is now a quality, refined and satisfying gastronomic stop. Here you will fin...

Etra - Genova

Image
Etra, Galleria Gastronomica, is the novel concept, somewhere between fine dining and an art gallery, recently opened in Genoa in the historic Palazzo Doria de' Fornari, overlooking the central Piazza De Ferrari. Upon entering the Palazzo's marbled atrium, the elegant opaline glass front door stands in front of you. The owner, Galleria Stupendo, has done a magnificent job of renovating and enhancing the space. You will be greeted by a reception area flanked by a wall entirely dedicated to the cellar, with a remarkable scenic effect. Furniture, accessories and decorative elements are the tools that accompany visitors on the sensory journey proposed by the restaurant. The very elegant and minimalist space, which plays on the contrast between light and absolute black, hosts changing works of art. Etra is not only a high quality gastronomic project, but also a real new concept that brings a breath of fresh air with almost New York connotations to the city of lant...

Vintriga - Castagnole delle Lanze (AT)

Image
Vintriga is an elegant restaurant and wine bar located in the central square of the beautiful village of Castagnole delle Lanze. The interior is the result of a wise conservative renovation of the former grocery store bought in '96 by Alessandro Cortese's parents. The small entrance hall is occupied by the pouring counter and a tasting area with small tables, sofas and armchairs. At the back is the open kitchen, in front of which stands a beautiful red Berkel slicer. A short corridor with two small tables connects the entrance area with the two small dining rooms, which feature frescoed ceilings and restored antique doors. The second small room is the picturesque Cantina, with a crystal table for six. Vintriga is a young and relaxed place that stands out both as a wine bar with a great cantina and as a place where local cuisine is revisited, with a meticulous search for excellent products, prepared with technique and a taste for combinations. Many of the re...

Ant - Novello (CN)

Image
The Ant restaurant, located in Novello, three kilometers from Barolo, was born from the careful restoration of Cascina Gavetta, creating two apartments and a small restaurant in the historic center. Ant means "graft" in the Piedmontese dialect and perfectly sums up the project's philosophy of incorporating local products into creative international cuisine. Inside, the restaurant is very atmospheric: stone walls, low lighting, a few well-spaced wooden tables, one in front of the open kitchen, rock music in the background. Ant's is a fusion cuisine born from the desire to offer something new and unusual in a territory that has always been tied to tradition. The enthusiasm of an American chef and the passion of his Piedmontese partner have created a gastronomic blend of remarkable sensory, playful and textural impact that knows how to evoke emotions and memories with technique and creativity. At the heart of Alex Lincoln's cuisine is a constant co...

Manuelina - Recco (GE)

Image
After 137 years of business and the succession of four generations of owners, Manuelina has become a true institution for all lovers of good food, so much so that it is the first natural and immediate association with the name of the town of Recco. Located in a decentralized position, just a few meters from the crossroads where the state road coming from the highway ends, Manuelina looks like an elegant Ligurian villa structured in several separate bodies: the restaurant, the Taste Hotel and the Focacceria Bistrot. The entrances of the Taste Hotel and Restaurant and the Focacceria are opposite each other. The interiors are full of eye-catching details, starting with the aquarium with shellfish and the kitchen visible through the glass window. The large dining room has marble floors, a ceiling with large wooden beams and a collection of Piatti del Buon Ricordo, a circuit of which Manuelina is a member. Since its inception in 1885, Manuelina's has become an inescap...

Officina dei Sapori - Gubbio (PG)

Image
We returned to the Taste Workshop in the fall to present other dishes. From the IL VEGETALE menu we tasted the "Imbrecciata", Umbrian legume soup with rosemary waffle. From the TRACKS menu we could not miss the Pigeon: turnip button stuffed with liver, grilled breast and thighs, leek with pomegranate air and turnip drops. The story of Officina dei Sapori is a story of cuisine and family that draws its roots from the previous generation, preserving and developing them, with Giacomo and Veronica, he chef and she sommelier, telling a new story of good food and good drink in a modern key. We were delighted to award the restaurant the Convivium Excellence Award for the quality of its cuisine and hospitality. Do you want to post your comment? Make yourself the Critic on the Blog! Image
Quattro Sensi is the regional cuisine restaurant of the Borgobrufa SPA Resort, a splendid "adults only" hotel just a stone's throw from Perugia, about which you can read a detailed report in lemilleUnanotte. The room at Quattro Sensi is very large, with large windows all the way around, overlooking the beautiful panorama of the Umbrian hills, with views as far as Assisi. The picturesque and well-stocked Cantina is located at the entrance. Chef Andrea Impero works in the kitchen with a young and motivated team. Quattro Sensi is a hotel restaurant capable of offering a fine regional dining experience. Andrea Impero's cuisine is of substance and quality, using ingredients that are the result of a careful selection of local producers, rightly mentioned on the menu. In fact, there are more than 70 excellent suppliers, each one personally known, with their family stories and daily dedication, the true root of the ethical and social philosophy that is b...

La Corte dei Papi - Cortona (AR)

Image
La Corte dei Papi is the restaurant of the Relais of the same name in Cortona, Tuscany, of which lemilleUnanotte has published an extensive photographic report. The complex is an old mansion dating back to the 1700s, tastefully restored and surrounded by a large park. The restaurant is located in the original wine cellar of the manor. The two dining rooms are preceded by a small sitting area. The rooms are romantic and full of character, with stone walls, beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. La Corte dei Papi is a precious address for its intimate, elegant and relaxed atmosphere: a charming restaurant where you can dine romantically by candlelight in the two precious indoor dining rooms or in summer by the pool in a fairytale setting. Part of a magnificent Relais with exclusive rooms and suites, the restaurant is ideal for ceremonies and high class weddings. The cuisine offers traditional and local flavors with some very centered creative ideas. D...

Cucina Donnaluisa - Ambra (AR)

Image
Cucina Donnaluisa is the gourmet restaurant of the magnificent Tuscan residence Il Verreno Resort, an ancient stone hamlet renovated with exquisite taste, the perfect location for high class weddings and exclusive events. It is located in Val d'Ambra, a pleasant resort in the province of Arezzo. The interior is warm and cozy, enhanced by mosaics on the walls and beautiful solid wood tables. The ceilings feature exposed brick and wooden beams. Chef Marialuisa Lovari works in the kitchen with valuable input from her sous chef and partner Keoma Franceschi and a young, motivated brigade. Cucina Donnaluisa impressed us with the beauty of the setting and the exceptional quality of the cuisine, which not only celebrates the great Tuscan tradition, but also knows how to update it and transform it into fine dining. The chef, Marialuisa Lovari, has a truly happy hand in the arrangement of each of her preparations: tasting two of her guided menus, the Land Menu and the F...
