Barolando - Barolo (CN)

Image
Barolando, Restaurant and Wine Shop, is conveniently located in the center of Barolo. Impossible not to walk past it and not be drawn in by the menus displayed in plain sight. On the second floor is the main dining room, complemented by a second, more intimate room. The rooms are very bright, informal and cozy. Barolando's formula is that of a modern Osteria with typical local cuisine and great wines to match... But what an Osteria! Mattia Negro has delighted us with a cuisine that is yes inspired by tradition, but is also of great personality and superb in its combinations. A lively, ultra-modern cuisine, apparently simple because it uses few ingredients from the choicest raw materials, technically impeccable (see the perfect cooking of the risottos, which is not so obvious to find), and executed with a lot of passion and application. It is a formula that we judge to be a winning one as it is a harbinger of a complete and enjoyable tasting experience. Do you want to pos...

La Piola di Via Piol - Rivoli (TO)

Image
La Piola di Via Piol, Chef Mimmo Girioli's quirky little gourmet restaurant, is based in the historic center of Rivoli. Not the easiest parking, plan to arrive a little early to find it.... The environments, a little bit tavern a little bit piola, sympathetically kitch, are overabundant with sympathetic or curious details, with lots of fishy references and quotations of all kinds, from comic book characters to the fare of the 1950s Closed Houses. La Piola di Via Piol has won us over and entertained us, for its cozy, slightly kitch ambience and its very fresh, lively and provocative cuisine, mostly seafood. Flair, imagination, a pinch of healthy madness and a great desire to play it down: this is the recipe, simple and successful, of Chef Mimmo Girioli, who has brought a breath of originality and "southern avant-garde" to a still somewhat sleepy corner of the Turin belt. If you would like to give the Chef carte blanche in arranging for you a tasting itinerary like ou...

L'Argaj - Castiglione Falletto (CN)

Image
L'Argaj (which in Piedmontese means "pleasure, satisfaction") is found in the middle of the Langa in Castiglione Falletto. Andrea Scarzello, an emerging young Chef with a wealth of important experiences, leads him on his own in 2015, together with his partner Valentina: the first at Villa Tiboldi, then, for three years, in the kitchens of Piazza Duomo with Enrico Crippa. Osteria Sali e Tabacchi - Mandello del Lario (CO)

Image
The Osteria Sali e Tabacchi is a typical trattoria with characteristic local cuisine, located in Maggiano, a tiny hamlet embellished by the ancient Torre del Barbarossa on the slopes of the mountains bordering Lake Como. The Osteria was born in 1999 from the transformation of the old oven of the town, already owned by the Lafranconi family. At Sali e Tabacchi, which won an episode of "Quattro Ristoranti", you can enjoy a simple and authentic cuisine, truly appreciable, offered in a real tavern like those of the past, in the tranquility of a village sheltered from the frenzy of mass tourism.
