Il Gallo della Checca - Ranzo (IM)

Il Gallo della Checca, a truffle restaurant with its own Tartufaia as well as an osteria and wine shop since 1986, is located in Ranzo, a small inland Ligurian village on the border with Piedmont. One does not arrive here by accident, but because of the gastronomic value of the address, which is certainly worth a special detour. As you cross the threshold of the entrance, you will find yourself immersed in a quaint rustic-elegant style setting, full of curious elements, from the piano to the tiled stove, from the collection of ceramic roosters to vintage and modern racing bicycles, a great passion of Chef and Patron Ugo Vairo. The main hall is decorated like a wedding favor, with oriental carpets and many well-displayed bottles. Ugo Vairo and Renata Siboni run a place that easily wins over its customers. Donna Selvatica - Neive (CN)

Donna Selvatica Restaurant is located in the heart of the beautiful old village of Neive, complemented by the panoramic suites of Locanda Borgo Vecchio for an overall gastronomic and hotel offering of the highest level.

The entrance to the Restaurant and that of the Locanda with panoramic suites are adjacent: a short flight of steps descends to Donna Selvatica.

As soon as you cross the threshold, you are struck by the understated elegance of the rooms, which are modern, warm and atmospheric.

The rectangular dining room is decorated in warm taupe tones, with two white sideboards on opposite sides and well-spaced tables that stand out against the beautiful parquet floors.

Prestigious collections of signature spirits are displayed in glass cases.

From the veranda terrace, the view stretches as far as the eye can see over the hills of Barbaresco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its most prestigious crus, which you'll find right on the menu: Gallina, Albesani, Ovello, Montefico, Montestefano, Ronchi, Gaia Principe.

The restaurant Donna Selvatica impresses and convinces both for its thick cuisine, which presents the strict Langa tradition as well as some revisited and fish dishes, and for the philosophy of proposing, as an added value, a well-considered selection of the best Crus from the surrounding hills, all clearly visible from the panoramic dining room.

However, the splendid Cantina is not limited to the region alone, ranging from local excellences to those from beyond the Alps.

Gabriele Piscitelli's hand can be seen in every preparation, for his meticulous search for the best raw materials and his ability to combine flavors with mastery, enhancing each ingredient without ever masking it.

In our opinion, a stop at Donna Selvatica is almost a must if you are in the area: a refined and satisfying gastronomic stop, perhaps combined with a stay in one of the elegant suites, to enjoy the place to the full.
