Il Gallo della Checca, a truffle restaurant with its own Tartufaia as well as an osteria and wine shop since 1986, is located in Ranzo, a small inland Ligurian village on the border with Piedmont. One does not arrive here by accident, but because of the gastronomic value of the address, which is certainly worth a special detour. As you cross the threshold of the entrance, you will find yourself immersed in a quaint rustic-elegant style setting, full of curious elements, from the piano to the tiled stove, from the collection of ceramic roosters to vintage and modern racing bicycles, a great passion of Chef and Patron Ugo Vairo. The main hall is decorated like a wedding favor, with oriental carpets and many well-displayed bottles. Ugo Vairo and Renata Siboni run a place that easily wins over its customers. Ristorante Cacciatori - Cartosio (AL)











Situated in a secluded spot among the hills of Acquese, along the road that connects Acqui Terme to Sassello, the restaurant, which has been run by the Milano family for five generations and is a member of the "Premiate Trattorie Italiane", looks like a beautiful country house of sober elegance.

Since our last visit, the interior has been renovated, with new parquet floors and a large archway that gives movement to the ceilings.

The light-colored walls are adorned with fine art paintings, and the lighting relies on suspended halogens.


In warm weather, the outdoor patio, bordered by the vegetable garden that provides the kitchen with delicious raw materials, becomes very pleasant.

A visit to the Cacciatori Restaurant allows you to experience authentic home cooking, as it was done half a century ago, in a place that we do not hesitate to call refined for its studied simplicity.

We at Convivium have always been enthusiastic and fascinated by it, convinced that a trip to this oasis of peace and excellent cuisine is always worthwhile: you will find different menus depending on the season, and every time you will taste simply perfect dishes, rich in authentic flavors almost forgotten, firmly tied to tradition and territory, characterized by ingredients of the highest quality.
