La Piola di Via Piol - Rivoli (TO)

Image
La Piola di Via Piol, Chef Mimmo Girioli's quirky little gourmet restaurant, is based in the historic center of Rivoli. Not the easiest parking, plan to arrive a little early to find it.... The environments, a little bit tavern a little bit piola, sympathetically kitch, are overabundant with sympathetic or curious details, with lots of fishy references and quotations of all kinds, from comic book characters to the fare of the 1950s Closed Houses. La Piola di Via Piol has won us over and entertained us, for its cozy, slightly kitch ambience and its very fresh, lively and provocative cuisine, mostly seafood. Flair, imagination, a pinch of healthy madness and a great desire to play it down: this is the recipe, simple and successful, of Chef Mimmo Girioli, who has brought a breath of originality and "southern avant-garde" to a still somewhat sleepy corner of the Turin belt. If you would like to give the Chef carte blanche in arranging for you a tasting itinerary like ou...

Gianni D'Amato - Tellaro (SP)

Image
The new venue with which Gianni D'Amato actually returns to his homeland is located in an enchanted corner on the border between Liguria and Tuscany. The equipment unfolds on two delightful terraces, both with views and graced by the unmistakable taste of Fulvia Salvarani, the chef's wife and exquisite hostess. An indoor dining room is used in the cold season. The D'Amato Family, Gianni, Federico and Fulvia, represents for us a true institution of Haute Cuisine, to which we feel bound by a relationship that borders on affection. A family that seemed to be kissed by good fortune and radiant success and in an instant, with the earthquake, found itself catapulted into an undeserved hell. The D'Amato's have been able to pick themselves up with a strength and serenity that can only inspire admiration, and they have continued to ply at their best a craft at which they excel, delighting palates without ever complaining or putting themselves down. Today Gianni can cou...

Dama-Dama - Porto Ercole (GR)

Image
The Dama-Dama restaurant is based in Porto Ercole inside the prestigious Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort about which lemilleUnanotte publishes a rich report. The interior of the restaurant is divided into two large rooms, the first of which faces the terrace, which is overlooked by full-wall windows. "Dama Dama" is the scientific name of the fallow deer, a splendid species that can be found in the forests that cover Argentario. At the Dama-Dama restaurant we tasted excellent cuisine based on the ingredients, flavors and colors of the territory with a dash of innovation. Chef Emiliano Lombardelli, a native of the area, works with impeccable technique a fine job of developing in a modern key some unavoidable traditional recipes with great attention to the quality of the raw material. The setting is stimulating and refined. We drank very well, with a food-wine pairing of great depth. Do you want to post your comment? Make yourself the Critic on the Blog! Post yo...

A Volte Restaurant & Wine - Loro Piceno (MC)

Image
A Volte Restaurant & Wine is the gourmet restaurant at Villa Anitori Prestige Relais & SPA, an intimate Maison de Charme nestled in the silence of the beautiful Marche hills of Loro Piceno, site of the ancient Castrum Lauri and home of the Vin Cotto Festival held every year in August. Of the Restaurant's magnificent interiors, you will be struck at first glance by the vaults from which it takes its name, embellished with contrasting modern chandeliers. Complementing the décor choices are hi-tech resin floors, along the lines of the Relais's leitmotif, which tastefully juxtaposes the ancient and the modern thanks to a skillful renovation of the original seventeenth-century rooms. A Volte Restaurant & Wine, thanks to the happy hand of Chef Paolo Paciaroni, represents a rich, cultured and stimulating gastronomic experience in an environment of refined elegance. We liked the search for traditional dishes revisited with the lightness and technique of modern cuisine...

La Villa de L'Andana Resort - Castiglione della Pescaia (GR)

Image
La Villa is the in-house restaurant of the magnificent L'Andana Resort complex in the Tuscan Maremma, just a few minutes' drive from Castiglione della Pescaia and Punta Ala. You will reach the Resort by driving along a long "picture postcard" avenue with cypresses and maritime pines surrounded by vineyards. During warm weather La Villa sets tables on the veranda and in the front garden, graced by a pool with water features. The Veranda is cozy and classy, with large curtains decorating the windows and small tables well arranged to enjoy the coolness and the view. You can access it directly by lift from the Reception floor, first encountering the room with the bar counter, and, in front of this, the air-conditioned cellar, which in turn can host small convivial meetings. La Villa Restaurant offers tasty local cuisine, from sea and land, prepared with simple and genuine ingredients. We appreciated Chef Lorenzo Terenziani's hand in cooking and combinations. The...

La Trattoria Enrico Bartolini - Castiglione della Pescaia (GR)

Image
La Trattoria Enrico Bartolini is an integral part of the magnificent L'Andana Resort complex in the Tuscan Maremma, just a few minutes' drive from Castiglione della Pescaia and Punta Ala. You will reach it by driving along a long "picture postcard" avenue with cypresses and maritime pines nestled among vineyards. There are two elegant rooms inside, tastefully decorated with a few rustic touches. The restaurant represents an essential gastronomic stop for every gourmet, thanks to its cultured and refined cuisine, but also in a certain sense familiar and free-range, in a setting of refined elegance, like an aristocratic country house of yesteryear. Many dishes are a tribute to Chef Enrico Bartolini's homeland, particularly those grilled to which a menu on the menu is entirely dedicated. Do you want to post your comment? Il Frantoio - Assisi (PG)

Image
Il Frantoio is based in the heart of Assisi's historic center, inside the Fontebella Palace Hotel. The lounge-veranda, which enjoys a wonderful view of the scenic Umbrian valley from the entire glass wall, is the result of a very accurate interior design project by Marta Toni, who with the paintings on the walls and tables pays homage to the olive tree, the true leit-motif of the restaurant, for an immersive oil-centric experience. Lorenzo Cantoni's cuisine literally thrilled us: it is original and modern, rich in flavors but light and digestible as few, it knows how to amaze and entertain but always with an objective in mind, never for virtuosity as an end in itself. Lorenzo conducts a real ongoing research on Oil, which has already earned him many awards and recognitions: in short, a real talent, who in our opinion will do a lot of talking. Some of his dishes are absolutely unforgettable: the Panzanella revisited, the Spaghetto al pomodoro, the Pigeon BBQ, the Bread, Oi...
