Wi.De Quadrilatero - Torino

Image
Wi.De Quadrilatero is located in the most fashionable and popular central area of Turin for its nightlife. The interiors are presented with a successful mix of vintage and modern. Behind and to the side of the entrance counter are the two interior rooms: the first is brightly colored and the second is completely covered with wood paneling. The large terrace overlooks the Piazzetta della Visitazione. Wi.De's formula is original and convincing. Self-taught chef Enrico Indellicati creates stimulating fusion preparations on a traditional base, integrated with elements of Tunisian cuisine, with a keen eye for overall harmony, to which the acidity and crispness of the food contribute with great balance. Cocktail pairing may seem risky, and it might be if it were just a trendy choice without a solid foundation of technique and knowledge, but here the challenge has been won and we recommend trying it. The place is already a happy choice for an excellent aperitif with tapas, but it will...

D'La Picocarda - Crocera di Barge (CN)

Image
The D'La Picocarda restaurant, located in a beautifully restored farmhouse with character, takes its name from the dialectal pendulum, the symbol of the restaurant, which is frescoed on the exterior walls. The interior is warm and atmospheric, like a real "Relais de Campagne". You are greeted in a well-kept reception area with terracotta floors and carpets, solid wood furniture and vaulted ceilings with exposed brick. A first dining room with fireplace is almost an antechamber to the magnificent veranda room. Note the antique terracotta floors, the frescoed half columns and the entire side wall in mountain boiserie. The bright main room with veranda, overlooking the outdoor garden and the breathtaking panorama of the Alps on the horizon, plays with the warm tones of the wood. There is also a third dining room with antique terracotta floors, painted wooden doors, frescoed half-columns and red ceramic hanging chandeliers that descend on the tables, and of course there is ...

Gennaro Di Pace - Perno (CN)

Image
The restaurant Gennaro Di Pace is located in Perno, a small village in the Langhe with a castle in a very panoramic position. It is a charming place, desired by Gregorio Gitti, owner of the castle and producer of excellent wines, who convinced Gennaro to leave his Saracena, in the province of Cosenza, to reach the hills of Barolo. The hexagonal sign takes up the motif on the label of the wines of the Cantina del Castello di Perno. The interiors are developed on a single rectangular room, furnished in a minimalist style with some decisive touches of color, which houses contemporary works of art in rotation. During the summer it is also set in the panoramic dehors. A young and talented chef, Gennaro Di Pace has brought a breath of fresh air to the Langa region, creating a personalized cuisine with interesting ideas and intelligent references to his land of origin. His menu is made up of a few dishes that, just from their description, arouse curiosity and the desire to taste them... M...

Ristorante Cacciatori - Cartosio (AL)

Image
Situated in a secluded spot among the hills of Acquese, along the road that connects Acqui Terme to Sassello, the restaurant, which has been run by the Milano family for five generations and is a member of the "Premiate Trattorie Italiane", looks like a beautiful country house of sober elegance. Since our last visit, the interior has been renovated, with new parquet floors and a large archway that gives movement to the ceilings. The light-colored walls are adorned with fine art paintings, and the lighting relies on suspended halogens. In warm weather, the outdoor patio, bordered by the vegetable garden that provides the kitchen with delicious raw materials, becomes very pleasant. A visit to the Cacciatori Restaurant allows you to experience authentic home cooking, as it was done half a century ago, in a place that we do not hesitate to call refined for its studied simplicity. We at Convivium have always been enthusiastic and fascinated by it, convinced that a trip to this...

Iride - Roddino (CN)

Image
Iride is nestled in the green Langhe hills of Roddino. The location is secluded, quiet and relaxing, with a pleasant outdoor pergola that is taken advantage of in warm weather. The old farmhouse has been completely renovated, leaving a decorative portion of stone wall at the entrance. The restaurant is divided into three bright dining rooms, with tile floors and botticella ceilings, part of which have exposed brickwork. In warm weather, the outdoor areas are used, with beautiful views of the hills. A wonderful gastronomic experience we had at Iride's! Isaia Biella is a young and motivated chef with a particularly happy hand. None of his dishes is ever banal, the tradition is impeccably executed and the reinterpretations come from a well-developed intuition and a growing love for the Orient and Japan, which appear in many preparations. Trattoria del Bivio - Cerretto Langhe (CN)

Image
Located a few kilometers from Alba, on the road between Ceretto Langhe and Albaretto Torre, the Trattoria Del Bivio was born from the careful restoration of an old Langa farmhouse, restored in 1997. Entering through the entrance, one is immersed in a well-kept environment full of character, which serves as the reception for the restaurant and the hotel. The rooms are divided into three tastefully decorated dining rooms, with a glassed-in veranda, very pleasant in warm weather, which continues into the garden patio. The Trattoria del Bivio, a true "Relais de Campagne", is a charming house, characterized by a familiar, yet intimate welcome, impeccable service and a lot of exquisite courtesy that make the pampered customer feel at home. The cuisine, impeccable when inspired by tradition, entertaining and dense in more contemporary preparations, offers a range of perfectly executed dishes, imbued with enthusiasm and passion, some of which are unforgettable, such as the foie...

La Castiglia - Saluzzo (CN)

Image
The Castiglia, built around the 12th century, was the fortified residence of the Marquises of Saluzzo, then a penal home until 1992. Today part of its rooms is used as a restaurant and cafeteria, under the passionate leadership of Chef Luca Banchio and his wife Tamara Cavaliere. The restaurant rooms have been tastefully renovated, with the lines of vaults and pillars highlighted by the play of light from art installations. A cosy additional room with a single large table is available for convivial gatherings of up to 9 people. There is no shortage of a pleasant outdoor area, which can be used during the warm season. At La Castiglia Restaurant, we appreciated Luca Banchio's idea of cuisine: excellent raw materials, clean pairings with recognizable ingredients and traditional Piedmontese dishes flanked by a few contemporary proposals. In each preparation we recognize technique, love and passion, relayed in the dining room with great savoir faire by his wife Tamara. Do you ...
